Hello friends, fans, and author newsletter junkies,
Yes, I am aware it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me. As you surely recall, though, when you subscribed to this newsletter, I did promise not to bombard your inbox with frequent unwanted solicitations or other claptrap, twaddle, and/or falderal. I took that vow seriously. Besides, repeated Blind Switch revisions notwithstanding, I really haven’t had much to talk about lately… until now that is.
First and foremost, I would like to express my tremendous gratitude to those few valued people who not only read early versions of my latest manuscript but then took great delight in telling me every single thing that was wrong with it. I commend you on your keen attention to detail and complete disregard for my feelings. Seriously, the feedback given was invaluable, and Blind Switch is a far stronger novel because of it. I sincerely believe it is my best work to date and I eagerly anticipate its release.
I’ve got some news on that front as well. It’s still too soon to pre-order your copy. However, I have settled on a July 26th launch date. That will be a big day for me. I’ll be celebrating my birthday, the release of my fourth book, and the fact that, for one more year anyway, the fifty-year milestone will remain on the horizon and not rapidly shrinking in my rearview mirror. My next update will likely contain more details about Blind Switch print and eBook publication, and you might even get a sneak peek at the new cover.
In the meantime, I offer a bit of levity in the form of another writing project I’ve recently undertaken. A dear friend of mine spent the past year dealing with a surprising separation followed by contentious divorce proceedings. There’s obviously nothing funny about that. But, when his now ex-wife split, among the items she took with her was the broom. He shared that with me and I immediately told him there was a song in there somewhere. That song, as it turned out, is called “Bitch Took the Broom.” I wrote the lyrics. My son worked out the tune, and we performed the number for the first time at a book signing event this past weekend. Here it is if you’d like to give it a look and a listen. Full disclosure, I am a far better writer than I am a singer.
